Years ago I bought a great wicker trunk at a community yard sale for a couple of dollars. It’s last real purpose was to store my record albums in an upright position. Before the albums, I used it to hold blankets and hide Christmas presents. I still remember how lucky I felt the day I bought it but wicker doesn’t last forever so it was either trash the old trunk or upcycle it.
Since I’m addicted to books and had a bookcase that literally was overflowing, I opted to upcycle the trunk into a bookcase. Fun!
First my husband helped me pull all the wicker off the metal frame.
Sounds easy but that stuff is hard on the fingers.
I was left with a sturdy black metal frame that just needed a little black spray paint.
Presto! I turned it upright and now I have a unique new bookcase filled with books I’ve found at yard sales and the Salvation Army. The ones I want to read first are on the top. That’s right, they’re all books I haven’t read yet. I told you I was addicted!
